It turns out that Clinique’s Even Better Refresh Makeup is in fact, even better. It builds easily to a full-coverage finish without looking thick or cakey and it lasts on the skin for 24-hours. The water-resistant formula is also the perfect balance between makeup and skincare.
Not only does this foundation have incredible coverage, it’s jam-packed with ingredients that with continued use, help to to visibly improve the skin’s texture and moisture levels.
Salicylic Acid gently exfoliates skin
Hyaluronic Acid plumps fine lines
Potent Peptides keep skin smooth
Although it might be difficult to see the benefits of these ingredients outright, it should definitely bring you a little satisfaction, knowing that your foundation is actually improving your skin over time!
A shade for everyone
The range features 27 shades in two different undertones; warm neutral (WN), which has more of a yellow undertone and cool neutral (CN), which is more pink.
Not only does this foundation feature a fairly extensive shade range, it has been formulated to suit most skin. According to Clinique, Even Better Refresh is suitable for skin types 1 (very dry to dry), 2 (dry to combination) and 3 (combination to oily).
After trialling it out, we believe that although it wasn’t specifically formulated for those with super oily skin, it could definitely still work quite well with some shine-reducing powder. However, if you’re after something a little more mattifying, read up on our favourite foundations for oily skin here.
Clinique recommends that you begin applying Even Better Refresh to the centre of the face first, (this is generally where the majority of coverage is needed) before gradually working outwards, towards the forehead and chin areas.
As with all foundations, a base consisting of good skincare and primer will ensure the Even Better Foundation lives up to its full potential.
We love the following products for prepping and priming the skin, especially if if you’re looking for a hydrated and smooth canvas for foundation.
